The basis of our research activities lies on the exploitation of quantum mechanical concepts to realize new optoelectronic devices or to implement new functionalities in materials that are used for technological applications (semiconductors, metals and other materials related to nano-fabrication processing). Most of our investigations are in the extended THz spectral range (1 – 100THz; 3 – 300µm), which is still a quite underexplored part of the electromagnetic spectrum with a very high potential for new technologies. Our research goes from fundamental concepts to quantum technologies and it is organized following three different axes:

– Many-body quantum physics
– Plasmonics and metamaterials
– Integrated photonic circuits
