In the Nanophotonics and Electromagnetism (Naphel) group, we study light-matter interactions at a sub-wavelength scale, i.e., when the matter is artificially structured with characteristic dimensions smaller than the wavelength of light. Such a controlled structuring is possible nowadays due to the huge progress achieved in micro and nanofabrication in the past twenty years. At these ultimates scales, light-matter interactions can be drastically modified in comparison with usual behaviors observed in the macroscopic world. Therefore, Nanophotonics rises fundamental issues in addition to opening the way towards innovative applications, for instance in optics, optoelectronics, biophotonics and solar cells.
