Atomic and molecular processors in solids

The perspectives for quantum light storage permitted new aspects of light matter interactions on its most elementary scale. Such a memory will certainly constitute a basic brick for the future quantum technology but its realization allows to approach to the boundary between the classical and quantum worlds. Placing it in crystals containing a very large number of active ions puts in question  the quantum description of macroscopic objects.
